High Tea At TACID

Our first ever High Tea At TACID was a rousing success. We were hoping for between 30 and 50 people at the event. Andi Melquist catered the event with enough "High Tea" food for fifty people. Thirty-five people entered their names for the door prize, but many staff members and volunteers did not, so we think just over fifty people were here.

Harpist Tumoko Numa played welcome music to get everyone in a fun mood after a hard day's work. Her rendition of Danny Boy was absolutely beautiful. Board members Bob Katika, Dave Seago, and John Oldham welcomed guests and registered them. Board Chair Ron Stone welcomed everyone to the event and introduded dignitaries and agency members from around the county. Emcee Don Doman then finished with introductions and words of praise. He then talked a little bit about Bridges, our independence breakfast coming up on September 23rd at the Murano, where our featured speaker will be Al Foxx. Al was in the audience and stepped forward to talk a few minutes about his program. Don then brought Chris Ensor forward to the microphone. Chris talked a little about the meaning of high tea and then welcomed Program Director Laura Beigh who then introduced Jerry Best for a client testimonial. Jerry was slowly losing his eyesight. He gave a heartfelt discription of the help that TACID gave him, which allowed him to make the transition from the world of sight. TACID took away many of his fears to make life bearable. Don and Ron talked about the Board of Directors and Klaudia Conradt discussed information about the Corporate Advisory Board.

Visitors came and went just as we wanted. Two separate tours were given my Chris of the TACID facility. The responses on the registrations were very favorable with people wanting more information about joining the board of directors, getting on the mailing list, and being invited to Bridges.
