Meet our Blind Independent Living Specialist, Laura Beigh.
Laura joined our staff in early November. Laura comes to us from Yakima. Laura has been legally blind since birth. She has had great experience working with the blind and partially sighted community. She began working at the Braille Institute while living in California.
After moving to Washington she worked on the Visual Impairment Services Team while earning a Masters degree in social work. While living in Yakima, she co-founded the Yakima Valley Council of the Blind and continues her dedication to the advancement of blind people. If you see Laura please welcome her to TACID!
Blind/Independent Living Program
TACID Blind and Partially
Sighted Services offers Independent Living skills training to individuals
in order to maintain or regain personal independence in the home or
community. Individualized services are provided through home visits
to identify appropriate needs. Training for staff and volunteers is
also available.
Services Include:
Adaptive Aids and Techniques for:- Low Vision
- Communications
- Home Management and Cooking
- Daily Living Activities
- Organizational Skills
- Braille Instruction
- Orientation and Mobility

TACID's Blind Peer Group |
Come join the Blind Peer Support group at TACID each first Wednesday of the month from 10AM-12PM. At most meetings, there will be a guest speaker to tell us about services that are of interest to the visually impaired community. At other meetings, we will talk about issues that affect those of us with vision loss. Let us know you are coming and our welcoming committee will see to it that you feel at home.
